Taxolio ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our iOS mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using Taxolio, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address through our authentication provider, Supabase Auth.
Profile Information
To personalize your experience and improve our service, you may optionally provide:
- Full name
- Age
- Gender
- Business type and business name
- Industry
- Years in business
- Expected annual business expenses
Financial and Receipt Data
The core function of Taxolio involves collecting and processing:
- Receipt photos and images you capture or upload
- Extracted merchant names, transaction dates, and amounts
- Expense categories assigned to receipts (including IRS Schedule C categories)
- Notes or descriptions you add to receipts
Usage Data
We collect standard analytics data to understand how the app is used, including features accessed, session frequency, app version, device type (e.g., iPhone model, iOS version), and crash reports. This data is collected in aggregate and used to improve the Service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Process receipt images using AI to extract and categorize expense data
- Provide analytics dashboards showing your deduction history
- Enable CSV export of your records
- Sync your data across devices and support offline use
- Process subscription billing and manage your subscription status
- Send transactional communications (e.g., password reset, billing receipts)
- Improve our AI models and overall service quality
- Respond to your support requests
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on servers located in the United States via Supabase, our database and authentication provider. We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encryption of data in transit using TLS/HTTPS
- Encryption of data at rest
- Secure authentication via Supabase Auth
- Row-level security policies to ensure users can only access their own data
- Regular security reviews of our infrastructure
While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.
4. Third-Party Services
Taxolio integrates with the following third-party services, each subject to their own privacy policies:
Supabase
We use Supabase for database storage and user authentication. Supabase processes your account information, profile data, and financial records on our behalf. Data is stored in the US.
OpenAI
We use OpenAI's API to power our AI receipt scanning and categorization features. Receipt images and extracted text may be sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models by default. Please review OpenAI's privacy policy for more information.
RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat processes subscription status information and anonymized purchase data. Your full payment information is handled by Apple and is never shared with us or RevenueCat.
Apple
Taxolio is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple processes payments for subscriptions and may collect certain data in accordance with their own privacy policy. Apple's Privacy Policy can be found at apple.com/privacy.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your account and associated data (see Section 6).
- Portability: Export your receipt data as CSV from within the app.
- Opt-out: Opt out of non-essential communications at any time.

6. Data Deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data directly from within the Taxolio app:
- Open Taxolio
- Go to the Profile tab
- Tap "Delete Account"
Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. All your receipts, profile information, and account data will be deleted from our systems within 30 days. Subscription billing is managed through Apple and must be cancelled separately through your Apple ID settings.

7. Children's Privacy
Taxolio is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, children under the age of 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at support@taxolio.app and we will take prompt steps to delete such information.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you via email or an in-app notification. Your continued use of Taxolio after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
