Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Taxolio iOS application and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Taxolio ("we," "our," or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using Taxolio, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Taxolio, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age, have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, and agree to comply with these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations. If you are using the Service on behalf of a business, you represent that you have the authority to bind that business to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Taxolio is an iOS mobile application that helps freelancers and small business owners track potential tax deductions by scanning receipts using AI technology. The Service provides:
- AI-powered receipt scanning and data extraction
- Automatic categorization of expenses into IRS Schedule C categories
- An analytics dashboard for reviewing deductions by month and category
- CSV export functionality for sharing records with your accountant
- Offline receipt scanning with automatic sync
- Multi-year record storage and search
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time, with or without notice, and without liability to you.
3. Subscription and Billing
3.1 Free Trial
Taxolio offers a 3-day free trial for new subscribers. The free trial begins when you initiate your first subscription purchase through the App Store. You will not be charged during the trial period.
3.2 Subscription Plans
After the free trial, access to Taxolio requires a paid subscription. The following plans are available:
- Monthly Plan: $9.99 USD per month
- Annual Plan: $79.99 USD per year
Prices are in US dollars and may vary by region. All subscriptions include access to all features of the Service.
3.3 Auto-Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Your Apple ID will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscription through your Apple ID account settings.
3.4 Cancellation
To cancel your subscription, go to: iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Taxolio → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to the Service until that time. We do not offer refunds for partial subscription periods.
3.5 Billing
All billing is handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not directly process or store your payment information. Apple's payment terms and policies apply to all transactions.
4. Not Tax Advice
Taxolio is an organizational tool only. The Service is designed to help you organize receipts and identify potential deductions based on common IRS categories. It does not provide tax advice, legal advice, accounting advice, or financial advice of any kind.
The information provided by Taxolio should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional tax advice from a qualified CPA, tax attorney, enrolled agent, or other licensed tax professional. Tax laws are complex, subject to change, and vary based on individual circumstances. Always consult a qualified tax professional before making tax-related decisions.
We make no representations or warranties that any expenses categorized by Taxolio are deductible under applicable tax law. You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy and eligibility of any deductions claimed on your tax returns.
5. User Responsibilities
By using Taxolio, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account
- Maintain the security of your account credentials and notify us promptly of any unauthorized access
- Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with these Terms
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application
- Not use the Service to upload content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes on the rights of others
- Not misuse the Service in any way that could damage, overburden, or impair our systems
- Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its related systems
- Comply with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws and regulations
You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the information you input into the Service and for any decisions made based on that information.
6. Intellectual Property
The Taxolio application, including its design, features, code, trademarks, and content (excluding your personal data and receipts), is owned by Taxolio and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal or internal business purposes, subject to these Terms.
You retain ownership of all data you upload to the Service, including receipt images and extracted data. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process this data solely to provide the Service to you.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service or its content without our prior written consent.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY SECURE.
We do not warrant the accuracy of AI-extracted receipt data. Always verify extracted information against your original receipts.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL TAXOLIO, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, TAX PENALTIES, INTEREST, FINES, OR OTHER LOSSES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Taxolio and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.
10. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our sole discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive.
11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware.
Before initiating any formal legal proceedings, you agree to contact us at support@taxolio.app and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide notice via email or an in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
